Indoor bounce houses are a ton of fun for kids, and they can also be sanity savors for moms, especially on a Summer rainy day or a super-hot afternoon. They are air-conditioned and provide children with great exercise and plenty of fun — plus, they get to hang out with other kids without officially having to schedule a play date.

Over the years, I’ve visited my share of indoor bounce houses, and after many hours of observation, I’ve noticed eight main types of moms that frequent these establishments. From the energetic mom who bounces right along with her kids to the mom who scans the facility for a comfortable chair to sit in the moment she arrives, one thing all of these awesome women have in common is that they are there to give their kids a fun and memorable outing.

Update: (June 25, 2018): After months of discussing its stores going out of business, Toys R Us will officially close all of its doors by this Friday, June 29, after being in business for 61 years. This includes all of its brick-and-mortar Babies R Us stores as well.

Update (Feb. 21, 2018): Toys R Us has announced it will be closing an additional 200 stores across the US and will lay off a number of its corporate employees. This round of closings will cut the amount of US Toys R Us and Babies R Us stores the company had before it filed for bankruptcy last September nearly in half.

Original post: Toys R Us, once the go-to stop for kids’ toys and games before retailers like Target and Amazon came around, will be closing approximately 20 percent of its stores in the US come February. The company, which filed for bankruptcy in September 2017, noted that it plans to close 182 locations — including some Babies R Us stores — across the country in an attempt to restructureand reorganize its business going forward.

“The reinvention of our brands requires that we make tough decisions about our priorities and focus,” said Toys R Us Chief Executive Dave Brandon in a letter posted on the company’s website. In addition to the closures (listed below), the company plans to merge around a dozen of its locationsinto shared Toys R Us and Babies R Us stores.

Each location set to close will run sales before going out of business. Find out if your local Toys R Us or Babies R Us is in the list of locations closing in the US.

By now we all know the impact that applying sunscreen on our children can have on protecting them from sunburns and skin cancer, but they can’t all use the same products. Kids can have all sorts of skin sensitivities, from Summer rashes to eczema and allergies, and you need to shop accordingly.

To begin, you’ll likely want to search for mineral-based sunscreens only (skip the chemical ones), and then pay close attention to the ingredient list. If you know what irritates them then you’re ahead of the game. Otherwise, start by avoiding some of the big offenders. Tip: kids can have reactions to the ingredient octyl methoxycinnamate (OMC), which helps filter UVB rays from the sun, so try starting there.

Luxury Living Group, the Italian lifestyle company that produces and distributes furniture collections for Fendi Casa, Kenzo Maison, Bentley Home, as well as its own signature line Heritage and others has found a new home in New York City’s Midtown East. The showroom held its grand-opening party last week.

Spanning two floors, the 11,000-square-foot showroom offers everything from decorative lighting, sofas, storage units, mirrors, to bed linens, kitchen counters, and pianos. The lower level includes a wall of home accessories, featuring items such as the Fendi Casa Lapin Rex pillow in a number of colors- one standout being an intensely hued Fendi-esque yellow. Other focal points of the showroom include the mirror-like Regina Bronzed Glass Coffee Tables from Fendi and Heritage’s Orient Express Suitcase Cabinet featuring faux mini suitcases that pull out instead of drawers.

The star of Luxury Living’s New York location is clearly Fendi Casa. With over 300 models, all of which are completely customizable in color, material and stitching, Fendi fills sizable portion of the showroom. “We can really customize anything,” said Raffaella Vignatelli, U.S. President of Fendi Casa, “From the size to the color to the set-up in your home. The customers want something unique and luxurious.”

For now, Fendi Casa and Kitchen, Bentley Home, and Heritage Collection are the only lines included in the New York based showroom, but the company plans to expand by adding more luxury brands in the near future. Luxury Living New York, located at 153 Madison Avenue, is the brand’s third location in the U.S.
