2015 Forbes Travel Awards Show Luxury is On the Rise in Costa Rica
For decades Costa Rica and its laid-back Pura Vida vibes have been alluring adventure seekers and eco-travelers from around the world. Also laying claim as one of the Happiest Places on Earth, Costa Rica is more recently emerging as a top destination for luxury seekers, discriminating travelers as well as international real estate buyers.
As the number of visitors to Costa Rica continues to rise, proven by the fact that 2014 saw a record-setting number of tourists visiting the Central American country, lavish and unique hotels seem to be popping up along the northern Pacific Coast of Costa Rica boasting a marriage of luxury and nature that is drawing international visitors seeking everything from rainforest adventures to spa days, as well as surfing and yoga-retreats.The mecca of Costa Rica’s new luxury resorts is the magnetic Peninsula Papagayo located in the Northwest Province of Guanacaste, and for the first time ever, three luxury hotels along this posh peninsula snagged recognition in the 2015 Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Awards. Proving that luxury is securing a foothold in Costa Rica’s tourism and hospitality industry, Peninsula Papagayo’s beautiful beaches and breathtaking hillsides are simply the starting point for the continued growth of luxury in the nation’s hotels, resorts and real estate developments in the Guanacaste region.
According to Roy Barrantes, corporate director of sales and marketing at Enjoy Group, which opened Forbes Award winner El Mangrove in 2014, “The Gulf of Papagayo is one of the fastest economically growing regions, transforming into a luxury high-end destination for Costa Ricans and worldwide travelers.”
Peninsula Papagayo Paves the Path to Luxury in Guanacaste Costa Rica
While the natural beauty and easy access to Guanacaste, Costa Rica and Peninsula Papagayo is indeed reason enough to go, for the ultimate Costa Rica vacation, look to the exceptional tropical escapes that ranked on Forbes Travel Guide’s list of Best Hotels in the World, including: the Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo, El Mangroove and the Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort.
While luxury tourism is on the rise in Papagayo, luxury real estate buyers are also flocking to Guanacaste where exceptional values on high-end properties can still be found along the Pacific Coast. At the highly acclaimed Beach & Golf Resort of Hacienda Pinilla just south of Peninsula Papagayo, real estate sales and construction starts are stronger than they were at the boom of 2007.
While Hacienda Pinilla is witnessing the construction of new beachfront homes on Playa Avellanas (anchored by Costa Rica’s only JW Marriot Beachfront Hotel), sales at the new and exclusive Hacienda Club, a luxury fractional Private Residence Club, are leading the way within the resort community. Featuring 3,000 sq/ft+ Villas right off the Hacienda Pinilla golf course, the exclusive Residence Club is attracting new Owners and luxury buyers from around the world.
The recognition of Costa Rica’s luxury hotels and resorts on the Forbes Travel Guide as well as the increase in interest of luxury real estate buyers as reported by Hacienda Pinilla and the Hacienda Pinilla Real Estate Company, prove that Costa Rica is becoming known as much more than a rugged, tropical escape and the evolution of Costa Rica as a top destination for luxury travel is just getting started.
