Valentines Day….the day of love, and mostly celebrated with food! These strawberries are so easy to make and variations can be presented, with chocolate chips, chocolate drizzle, candies, whatever your imagination can provide!

Prepare Time: 15 minutes
Ready In: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

20 Fresh Strawberries

1 ( 3 ounce ) Package of cream cheese, softened

2 Tablespoons chopped walnuts

1 1/2 Cofectioners Sugar

Dice two strawberries and set aside. Cut the stems off of each of the remaining strawberries, forming a base for strawberries to stand on. Starting at the pointed ends and cutting most of the way, but not completely through the stem end, slice each strawberry into four wedges.
Beat the cream cheese until fluffy; stir in the diced strawberries, walnuts, and powdered sugar. Spoon or pipe about a teaspoon of mix into each strawberry.

Classic Caramel Apples
Young or old – everyone’s most-loved fall treat. Juicy, tart apples smothered in melted caramel then dipped in favorite toppings.

Recipe type: Dessert, Fall Treat
Serves: 4

Ingredients
4 Granny Smith Apples, room temperature
4 cookie or wooden craft sticks
1 (11 oz) bag Kraft Caramels (Caramel Melts can be substituted)
1-2 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon vanilla
Toppings: Nut topping, crushed peanuts, M&Ms, crushed Oreos, crushed pretzels, Sea salt flakes. Drizzle
with chocolate, if desired.

Instructions

1. Cover a metal tray with sprayed wax 1. paper or sprayed parchment.
2. Apples should be room-temperature.
3. Wash & dry apples. Push a craft stick ยพ through top of apple.
4. In a small saucepan, heat caramel & water over low heat until caramel is melted, stirring continuously.
5. Remove from heat and add vanilla, stir well.
6. Tip saucepan slightly to make a deeper caramel pocket and dip apple in caramel, spinning it around twice
to cover completely in caramel and let excess drip back into pan.
7. Set apple in topping and press topping in slightly.
8. Place apple onto greased waxed paper or parchment.
9. Repeat with all apples.
10. Place tray with apples in fridge 30 minutes to set.
11. Remove from fridge 10-15 minutes before serving.
12. *If not serving immediately, cover apples in plastic wrap or cellophane and keep refrigerated until ready
to serve.
13. Enjoy!

Joys son….blowing out a candle!

Joy Marks has been appointed the official pastry chef and cake decorator for Old Fashioned Mom Magazine and their events. Her vast knowledge and love of baking have earned her multiple awards and featured in numerous magazines and food periodicals.

Joy’s revolutionary techniques and ground breaking recipes have garnered the attention of major celebrities and restaurants worldwide.

As Joy recently stated “I love creating cakes and fabulous pastries as it helps to reflect the artistic side of my personality besides fashion, and a beautiful cake that is delicious will make every party more spectacular. It is the Piece de Resistance of any celebration of life!”

In 1999 Joy was the sole proprietor of the famous gourmet bake shop called Le Grand Boulangerie, however with three small children she decided it was taking away to much time from them and eventually closed the doors. She did remain a consultant to various restaurants and organizations.

We here at OFM are delighted to have Joy Marks and her magnificent creations and expertise in the field of desserts, especially cakes and look forward to sharing them at our events!!
